Crystal, MN – Candidate for U.S. Congress, Cicely Davis, defeated two challengers to win the official endorsement of the Minnesota GOP at the fifth congressional district Republican convention on Saturday. This victory ensures that the resources of the Republican Party in Minnesota and the Republican National Committee will be exclusively available to the Cicely Davis campaign for use in her district. All party officers are also sworn to support Cicely as the endorsed candidate as well.
“The people of our district and our Party have spoken. I’m honored and grateful that they have put their faith in me to carry our banner forward,” Cicely Davis said, fresh off her victory. “When I declared my candidacy more than half a year ago, I pledged that I would run a tireless campaign. I have kept my word but the best is yet to come.”
“My campaign is focused on the issues that matter to us all: Public safety, combating inflation, educational freedom, economic revitalization, individual liberty and responsibility, and a strong national defense that includes secure borders,” Cicely explained.
“Now is the time to close ranks as a party,” She added. “I’m grateful for Shukri Abdirahman’s endorsement and support, who pledged to work with my campaign. I sincerely hope that my other Republican challenger who fell short on votes today will suspend his campaign and work with me and the people of this district to build the movement necessary to win in November.”
Saturday’s endorsement is the culmination of a candidate working with the Party and its activists, and building the necessary support and trust. In return, the Party does everything in its power to see that the endorsed candidate is nominated and goes on to win in the general election. Minnesota’s fifth congressional district consists of the entire city of Minneapolis and the surrounding western suburbs. The congressional seat is currently held by Ilhan Omar.
Along with the MN-5 endorsement, Cicely has been endorsed by the Minnesota Police and Peace Officers Association, Stand for Health Freedom, and most recently, former Minnesota Vikings captain and presidential appointee, Jack Brewer.
