Doug Wardlow promised to honor the endorsement – and then broke his word

“Jim Schultz is the only candidate who can beat Keith Ellison and get radical liberal politics out of the attorney general’s office. Doug Wardlow had his chance and lost, and now he is refusing to honor the endorsement he promised to abide by. Furthermore, when he began his campaign for the Republican endorsement, he signed an agreement with the Party prohibiting him from using delegate and alternate contact information and other materials after the conclusion of the endorsement. Doug Wardlow is violating this agreement and we have sent him a cease-and-desist letter demanding that he abide by the agreement. We continue to call on Wardlow to end his campaign for attorney general.”

MN GOP STATEMENT ON ATTORNEY GENERAL’S RACE

MINNEAPOLIS, MN – The Republican Party of Minnesota released the statement below in response to Doug Wardlow’s decision to continue his campaign for attorney general:

“Not only did Doug Wardlow publicly commit to abiding by the party’s endorsement, Wardlow promised the MNGOP Nominations Committee that he would abide by the party’s endorsement. At the time, we assumed Doug Wardlow to be sincere, but sadly it seems it was an empty promise. We ask Doug Wardlow to honor the commitment he made to delegates and respect their decision by ending his campaign for Attorney General. If he does not, the Republican Party of Minnesota is 100 percent committed to defending our endorsement in the primary.”

MPR News: Ellison beats Wardlow in heated attorney general campaign

https://www.mprnews.org/story/2018/11/06/midterm-ellison-wardlow-minnesota-attorney-general-election-day

“Democrat Keith Ellison came out on top Tuesday in the race to be Minnesota’s next attorney general following a contentious race where both candidates had to respond to questions about their past.

“With about 94 percent of precincts reporting, Ellison had about 49 percent of the vote to about 45 percent for Wardlow.”

Opinion polls showed many voters viewed Ellison unfavorably and few voters recognized Wardlow’s name. Still, Wardlow went from 5 percentage points down in a mid-September poll to 7 points ahead in a mid-October poll.”
