MINNEAPOLIS, MN – Republican Party of Minnesota Chairman David Hann issued the following statement about President Joe Biden’s upcoming visit to Minnesota:
“I never thought I’d be writing a press release in agreement with Democratic Congressman Dean Phillips. It could not be more obvious that Biden is coming to Minnesota because of Phillips’ recent announcement and challenge for the Democratic nomination for president.
Recent polling shows Biden’s support among his fellow Democrats has fallen over ten points in the last month – the worst of his presidency.
Phillip is challenging Biden for the Democratic nomination because he believes Biden won’t win next November, and I agree.
Biden’s visit to Minnesota isn’t about repackaging his failed economic policies; it’s to shore up support with Democrats and block Phillip’s campaign from gaining strength. Just this morning, eight DFL legislators released a statement defending Biden against Phillips’ challenge and legitimizing his campaign.
It is becoming increasingly more obvious that both Democrats and Republicans know that if the election were held today, Biden would lose. And Biden wouldn’t be coming to Minnesota if he didn’t think it was true.”
